Two Pakistani Soldiers Killed, 15 Militants Neutralized in KP Counterterrorism Operations: Military Report
Two Pakistani soldiers lost their lives, and 15 terrorists were eliminated during three separate counterterrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.
The military’s media wing detailed that the operations, conducted on Friday and Saturday, targeted militant strongholds across multiple districts. In Karak district, security forces engaged in an intelligence-based operation (IBO), killing eight terrorists after pinpointing their hideout. A subsequent IBO in North Waziristan district resulted in the deaths of four additional militants.

Tragically, during the North Waziristan exchange, two soldiers—Lance Naik Usman Mohmand (28, from Charsadda) and Sepoy Imran Khan (26, from Kurram)—were fatally wounded while valiantly resisting the militants. A third operation in South Waziristan’s Gomal Zam area led to the elimination of three more terrorists.
The ISPR noted that weapons and ammunition were seized from the slain militants, who were reportedly involved in multiple acts of terrorism. Clearance efforts are ongoing to root out any remaining threats in the regions. The statement emphasized the military’s unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism, underscoring that such sacrifices by personnel only strengthen their determination.
This escalation in operations follows a surge in militant violence across Pakistan, particularly in KP and Balochistan, after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terminated its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. Recent data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies revealed that March saw over 100 militant attacks—the highest monthly tally since 2014.
Additionally, the Global Terrorism Index 2025 ranks Pakistan as the second-most impacted country, with terrorism-related fatalities rising by 45% in the past year to 1,081 deaths.
