Govt Announces Early Salary, Pension Disbursement for Eid-ul-Adha
Astronomer Forecasts Moon Sighting More Likely on May 28
PESHAWAR – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially announced the early disbursement of salaries and pensions for all provincial employees ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha 2025 holidays.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Department, all relevant departments have been directed to ensure that payments are made by May 30, as June 1 falls on a Sunday, which is a public holiday.
The early release of funds is intended to facilitate government employees and pensioners in preparing for Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most significant religious festivals in the Islamic calendar.
Meanwhile, anticipation is growing over the official Eid date, which will be confirmed after the Zul-Hijjah moon sighting.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has convened a session of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on May 27 in Islamabad, under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad. Zonal committees will also meet in their respective provinces to verify and collect crescent sighting testimonies.
“If the moon is sighted on May 27, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 6. If not, it will fall on June 7,” a Ministry spokesperson confirmed.
However, an astronomical forecast has suggested that the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28, indicating a higher probability that Eid will be observed on June 7 in most parts of Pakistan.
