Reckless Provocation: Pakistan Slams Modi’s Hate Speech in Gujarat, Urges Global Attention

May 27, 2025

ISLAMABAD, May 25 — Pakistan on Tuesday issued a strong condemnation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech in Gujarat, calling it a “hate-driven invocation of violence” and a reckless provocation that threatens peace and stability in the region.

In a sharply-worded statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said that such rhetoric reflects a disturbing erosion of political maturity and diplomatic decency in India’s statecraft.

Foreign Office: Modi’s Remarks a Threat to Regional Stability

“Delivered more like an election rally than a statesman’s address,” the FO said Modi’s speech represents a “dangerous precedent” in a region already grappling with volatility and historic tensions.

“We regret the continued erosion of political maturity and decency in Indian statecraft,” said FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan.

The spokesperson warned that such provocative language not only undermines peace but also violates the spirit of the United Nations Charter, which mandates peaceful resolution of disputes and prohibits threats or use of force against the sovereignty of other states.

Deflecting from Kashmir, Ignoring Internal Issues

The Foreign Office asserted that Modi’s remarks appear to be an attempt to distract from ongoing human rights violations and demographic manipulation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

“These remarks are a reckless provocation intended to divert attention from serious internal issues, including the oppression in Kashmir,” the spokesperson noted.

Pakistan’s Global Peace Record vs. India’s Rising Intolerance

Highlighting Pakistan’s longstanding role in UN peacekeeping and global counterterrorism efforts, the FO emphasized that actions speak louder than words.

Shafqat Ali Khan also pointed to the rise of majoritarianism, religious intolerance, and the systematic marginalization of minorities under India’s Hindutva ideology as growing concerns that demand introspection from Indian leadership.

Clear Warning: Any Threat Will Be Met Accordingly

Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace based on mutual respect and sovereign equality, the FO warned:

“Any threat to Pakistan’s security or territorial integrity will be met with a full and appropriate response under Article 51 of the UN Charter.”

International Community Urged to Intervene

Pakistan’s Foreign Office called on the international community to take serious note of India’s increasingly aggressive posturing, which it said jeopardizes regional stability and global peace efforts.
