Trump May Sanction Russia If Needed, Warns Iran of ‘Serious Consequences’: White House
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is prepared to impose sanctions on Russia if circumstances demand it, underlining a strong stance on evolving international developments.
Addressing a press briefing, Leavitt said that while the president was not previously aware of the Ukrainian drone strike on Russia, he remains optimistic about a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
She also addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, confirming that the Gaza Relief Foundation has been launched to distribute food aid to Palestinians. The administration is aware of reports of gunfire targeting civilians waiting for aid, she added.
On the nuclear front, Leavitt revealed that Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy, has extended a proposal to Iran regarding a potential nuclear agreement. However, she issued a stern warning:
“Should Iran reject the proposal, it will face serious consequences.”
Leavitt also confirmed that President Trump will attend the upcoming NATO summit, reaffirming the U.S. commitment to its allies. She highlighted that the United States is currently engaged in favorable trade negotiations with several international partners.
