Nations Hockey Cup: New Zealand defeats Pakistan,qualify to semi-finals

Kuala Lumpur: In a crucial match of the Nations Hockey Cup, New Zealand defeated Pakistan 3-4 after a thrilling encounter and qualified for the semi-finals.
Pakistan took a 1-3 lead against New Zealand at the end of the first quarter in a crucial match of the ongoing FIH Nations Cup hockey tournament in Malaysia.

New Zealand made an aggressive start and scored their first goal in the 6th minute of the first quarter, Woodnick from the Kiwis put the ball in the net, however, Pakistan scored 2 consecutive goals in the 13th and 14th minutes of the match to take the lead.


In the third quarter, both teams continued to attack each other’s goal posts. In the 43rd and 45th minutes, Scott Colest scored two consecutive goals to end Pakistan’s lead and the match was tied 3-3.
In the fourth quarter, Scott Colest scored the third goal of the match for the Kiwis in the 52nd minute, giving the Kiwis the lead over Pakistan. He scored the goal on a penalty corner and thus New Zealand took a 3-4 lead over Pakistan.

Earlier, Pakistan defeated Japan 0-3 in their second match yesterday.
