Trump, COAS Munir Hold Historic Meeting on Counterterrorism and Trade: ISPR
In a landmark meeting at the White House, US President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, engaged in extended discussions on counterterrorism cooperation, bilateral trade, and regional security. The “cordial” two-hour meeting, initially scheduled for one hour, marked the first formal reception of a serving Pakistani army chief by a sitting US president.
Talks spanned multiple strategic areas including artificial intelligence, energy, and cryptocurrency. Trump praised Pakistan’s role in preventing conflict with India and expressed interest in deepening trade ties. Munir invited Trump to visit Pakistan, while both leaders stressed peaceful resolution of the Iran-Israel tensions. ISPR described the meeting as a milestone in US-Pakistan relations.
