Pakistan Condemns US Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Supports Tehran’s Right to Self-Defense

Pakistan strongly condemned the United States’ missile strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, calling them a dangerous violation of international law and a threat to regional peace.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) expressed deep concern over the growing hostilities and warned that continued aggression against Iran could lead to devastating consequences across the Middle East and beyond.

“We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region,” the spokesperson said.
“These attacks violate all norms of international law. Under the UN Charter, Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself.”

The foreign office emphasized that civilian lives and infrastructure must be protected at all costs and that respect for international humanitarian law is imperative.

Pakistan reiterated its longstanding position that dialogue and diplomacy—in line with the principles of the UN Charter—remain the only sustainable path to resolve crises in the region.

Pakistan Nominates Trump for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize

In a separate but related development, the Government of Pakistan officially nominated US President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, acknowledging his critical role in de-escalating the recent Pakistan-India military conflict.

A formal statement issued on the government’s official X (formerly Twitter) account hailed Trump’s “decisive diplomatic intervention and stellar statesmanship”, which helped prevent a potentially catastrophic war between the two nuclear-armed neighbors during the four-day conflict earlier this year, known as Marka-e-Haq.

“President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and leadership by engaging both Islamabad and New Delhi at a critical moment,” the statement noted.
“His efforts led to a ceasefire that averted a catastrophic conflict.”

The ceasefire, brokered on May 10 following intense hostilities, has since held, with both sides scaling back deployments and engaging in backchannel communication through neutral intermediaries.

Global Implications

Analysts say Pakistan’s dual messaging—condemning the strikes on Iran while acknowledging US diplomacy in South Asia—reflects Islamabad’s growing interest in positioning itself as a regional stabilizer with balanced foreign policy objectives.

The endorsement of Trump’s peace efforts also comes amid rising global concern over the widening Iran-Israel conflict, which has already drawn in multiple countries and threatens to further destabilize the region.
