Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) Strongly Condemns the Abduction and Forced Religious Conversion of Sindhi Hindu Students in Shahdadpur
The Executive Council of the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) strongly condemns the alleged abduction and forced disappearance of four Hindu girls Sheena, Jia, Diya, and a 13-year-old student Hani from the town of Shahdadpur, Sindh, and their forced religious conversion at gunpoint.
Expressing deep concern, SANA leadership stated that Sindh, a land known for its long-standing tradition of tolerance, coexistence, and religious freedom, is witnessing acts of inhuman cruelty against minority communities, which is a blow to its progressive cultural identity.
SANA leaders further stated that the abduction and disappearance of these innocent students and the desperate appeals of their families in community meetings (jirgas) are a test for the Sindh government. Now is the time for the government to not only deliver justice to the affected families but also conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against the perpetrators.
The Sindhi Association of North America also appeals to international human rights organizations, media outlets, and civil society to raise their voice against this oppression and to take effective measures to ensure the safety and protection of Sindh’s minority communities.
We demand equality, freedom, and security for every daughter and youth of Sindh — and reject any atmosphere of hatred, coercion, and fear. We stand for a Sindh where all nations, all religions, and all people can live in peace and dignity.
