Dar, Gen Munir meet Erdoğan during OIC summit in Istanbul Erdoğan likens Israeli actions to Hitler’s regime

ISTANBUL – June 23, 2025:
In a high-level diplomatic meeting on the sidelines of the 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirmed their united stance in support of Iran’s sovereignty and regional stability, while strongly condemning ongoing Israeli aggression in the region.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, accompanied by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held a significant meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul on Sunday.

During the meeting, Deputy PM Dar conveyed warm greetings from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its “historic, strategic and brotherly” ties with Türkiye across political, economic, and defense sectors.

United Stand Against Escalation in the Middle East

Both countries strongly condemned the recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter. They affirmed Iran’s right to self-defense, emphasizing that such acts risk plunging the Middle East into further chaos.

The two sides also expressed deep concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for an immediate end to Israeli hostilities and uninterrupted humanitarian access to Palestinians.

Pakistan and Türkiye share a principled position rooted in justice, mutual respect, and the defense of sovereignty of all nations, said Dar following the meeting.

Erdoğan: ‘Victory Will Be Iran’s’

Earlier, speaking at the emergency OIC summit, President Erdoğan delivered a fiery speech, declaring full support for Iran in the face of Israeli and U.S. military actions, and sharply criticising Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s policies.

“We are confident that victory will be on Iran’s side,” Erdoğan said. “Just as Hitler’s fire consumed the world 90 years ago, Netanyahu’s Zionist ambitions now threaten to do the same.”

He likened Israel’s military campaign in Gaza to Nazi-era atrocities, stating that two million people are living in conditions worse than concentration camps.

Warning Against Regional Conflagration

Erdoğan accused Israel of deliberately expanding the conflict and said that its military actions in the West Bank and beyond are part of a broader agenda to redraw the region’s map.

“We will not permit a new Sykes-Picot order to be drawn in blood,” he declared, referencing the colonial-era division of the Middle East by European powers.

The Turkish leader also called for Muslim unity and a collective effort to resist external impositions, urging the Islamic world to rise as a unified global force.

Strengthening Bilateral and Strategic Cooperation

During their meeting, Pakistani and Turkish leaderships committed to intensifying cooperation in trade, defense, counter-terrorism, and regional diplomacy. Dar also congratulated Erdoğan on his recent award by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, praising his leadership in convening the OIC session.

“In these challenging times, Pakistan and Türkiye stand shoulder to shoulder in promoting peace, sovereignty, and unity in the Islamic world,” Field Marshal Munir reportedly said.
