Pakistan Rebukes India at UNGA Over Kashmir, Human Rights Abuses, and Cross-Border Terrorism

Jul 3, 2025

Pakistan has delivered a forceful rebuttal to India at the United Nations General Assembly, accusing New Delhi of systemic human rights violations, religious persecution, and sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistani territory. Responding to India’s earlier remarks, Rabia Ijaz, Second Secretary at Pakistan’s Mission to the UN, condemned what she called a misleading and hypocritical narrative by India and labeled it as an oppressor masquerading as the victim. She cited the weaponisation of hate, mob violence, and state-sanctioned discrimination against religious minorities in India — particularly Muslims, Christians, and Dalits — under the BJP-RSS political alliance. Highlighting mob lynchings, forced demolitions, and citizenship laws based on religion, she stressed that India had evolved into a majoritarian autocracy. On the Kashmir dispute, Ijaz rejected India’s assertion of the region being an internal matter, referring to UN Security Council resolutions which call for a free and impartial plebiscite to determine the will of the Kashmiri people. She accused India of violating international law by refusing to honor these obligations and cited unprovoked cross-border attacks on May 6 and 7, which resulted in 35 civilian deaths in Pakistan. She further condemned India’s alleged role in the deaths of 15 children in Pakistan, calling it a deliberate act and urging the UN to document the incident. Ijaz also alleged India’s covert support for banned militant groups such as the TTP and BLA, claiming the involvement of Indian intelligence services in orchestrating terrorist attacks, including the 2014 APS massacre. She concluded by cautioning against the selective invocation of doctrines like Responsibility to Protect (R2P), asserting that accountability must apply equally to all nations, including India, without exceptions or double standards.
