Islamabad Bans Private Drones Amid Tight Security for 9th Muharram Processions
Islamabad Police has announced a complete ban on the use of private drones in areas where Muharram processions are being held, as part of a comprehensive security plan for the 9th of Muharram in the federal capital.
According to official sources, a detailed security strategy has been finalized to ensure the safety of mourners and maintain law and order during the religious gatherings. As many as 30,000 personnel from Islamabad Police, the Special Branch, and Traffic Police have been deployed to provide security throughout the day.
Security operations are being closely monitored through the Safe City Central Control Room, as well as a mobile control unit stationed near the procession route. The entire procession route has been sealed using barbed wire to prevent unauthorized access and maintain crowd control.
A strict three-layer security cordon has been established, including rooftop deployment of sniper commandos for aerial surveillance. The Bomb Disposal Squad has also been assigned to sweep and secure the procession route using advanced detection equipment.
Personnel from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Islamabad Police have been positioned at the front and rear of the procession to ensure rapid response in case of any emergency.
The measures aim to provide a safe and peaceful environment for the observance of Muharram, while the drone ban is intended to prevent any aerial surveillance or unauthorized recording that could pose a security threat.
