Upper Dir Tourist Vehicle Crash Kills One, Injures Six
A tragic accident occurred in Upper Dir on Sunday when a vehicle carrying tourists plunged into a deep ravine near Barikot Gulom. The incident resulted in the death of one young passenger and caused serious injuries to six others.
According to initial reports, the vehicle was transporting tourists from Peshawar and Upper Dir’s Gwaldai Sandrai when it veered off the road, losing control and crashing into the ravine. The area is known for its narrow and winding mountain roads, which are often treacherous, especially during wet or unstable conditions.
Emergency response teams promptly reached the site and shifted the injured individuals to Patraka Hospital for immediate medical assistance. The identities of the victims have not yet been made public.
Local authorities have begun investigating the cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that the crash may have been due to road conditions or mechanical failure, though driver error has not been ruled out.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for improved safety measures and road maintenance in popular tourist regions like Upper Dir, especially during the peak summer season when travel increases significantly.
Further details are awaited as officials continue their probe into the matter.
