Nadeem Baig Reveals Sajal Aly, Asif Raza Mir’s Reaction to Working Together in ‘Manto’

Veteran director Nadeem Baig recently shared insights during a podcast with Maliha Rehman, revealing how actors Sajal Aly and Asif Raza Mir responded when he approached them to play a father-daughter duo in the upcoming drama serial Manto. Given their personal history—Sajal being the former daughter-in-law of Asif Raza Mir through her marriage to Ahad Raza Mir—Baig initially had reservations about casting them together. However, both actors responded with grace and professionalism. Asif Raza Mir, after a brief pause, assured Baig that he had no issue and encouraged him to speak with Sajal. Likewise, Sajal expressed respect for her senior co-star, stating that if he fit the role, he should be cast. Baig also shared that despite their past, the duo displayed a cordial and friendly rapport on set, to the extent that he occasionally had to intervene when their off-screen camaraderie disrupted the shoot.
