Humaira Asghar’s Father Refuses to Accept Her Body Following Tragic Death in Karachi
KARACHI — In a deeply distressing development, police officials confirmed on Wednesday that the father of Humaira Ali Asghar, whose decomposed body was discovered in her Karachi flat, has refused to claim her remains following the postmortem.
Humaira, a former model and actress who had been living alone in Karachi since 2018, was found dead in her residence earlier this week. Authorities suspect that the body, recovered in an advanced state of decomposition, may have been lying undiscovered for nearly 20 days.
The tragic case has sent ripples of grief through Pakistan’s entertainment industry, which is still mourning the recent passing of veteran actress Ayesha Khan.
According to police sources, officials reached out to Humaira’s family shortly after her body was recovered. However, the family — particularly her father — reportedly declined to take responsibility for the remains.
“We severed ties with her a long time ago. Do whatever you want with her body — we will not receive it,” Humaira’s father allegedly told the police, as per officials involved in the investigation.
Law enforcement authorities are continuing efforts to persuade the family to come to Karachi and take custody of the body. In the meantime, her remains have been shifted to the Chhipa morgue for preservation.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation, with forensic analysis and autopsy reports expected to provide more clarity in the coming days.
