Sonya Hussyn, Yasir Hussain Volunteer to Perform Humaira Asghar’s Last Rites
KARACHI – July 11:In a powerful show of solidarity, Pakistani actors Sonya Hussyn, Yasir Hussain, and Yashma Gill have expressed their willingness to perform the last rites of late actress Humaira Asghar Ali, whose family has refused to accept her body following the post-mortem.
Humaira’s decomposed body was recovered from her apartment in Karachi’s Defence area earlier this week. Initial police findings suggest the body may have been lying unattended for nearly nine months.
Despite the shocking circumstances of her death, her father reportedly declined to receive the body, stating, “We have cut off ties with her long ago. Do whatever you want with her body. We will not receive it.”
Though later reports hinted that a family member contacted police to claim the body, official confirmation remains pending.
Amid public outcry, Sonya Hussyn shared an emotional video on her Instagram, expressing deep sorrow and frustration at the family’s decision. She appealed to authorities to allow her to perform the final rites if no one from the family comes forward within a day.
Actor Yasir Hussain echoed her sentiments, saying, “The industry she was disowned for is ready to give her the farewell she deserves.” His post served as a reminder of the need for compassion within the entertainment community.
Yashma Gill also supported the initiative, joining hands with her fellow actors to ensure that Humaira receives a respectful burial.
The public response has been overwhelmingly supportive, with social media users praising the artists for standing by one of their own when others turned away.
This heartbreaking case has not only shocked the entertainment fraternity but also sparked important conversations around mental health, isolation, and community responsibility within the industry.
