
U-18 Hockey Asia Cup: Pakistan in final
Pakistan qualified for the final of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup after defeating Malaysia in an exciting and thrilling match.
The semi-final of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup in Dazhou, China was played between Pakistan and Malaysia. Pakistan scored two goals in the first eight minutes, first Abdullah scored on a penalty corner and then Shahbaz Hassan scored to double the lead.
Then Malaysia came back and scored three goals up and down to take a three-two lead over Pakistan, which did not last long and Shahbaz Hassan scored to level the match at three goals each, which remained level until the stipulated time.
The match was decided on a penalty shootout and Pakistan managed to score on the first three shots while Malaysia missed one of the three shootouts, which reduced Pakistan’s lead to three-two.
Pakistan missed the fourth shootout, and the match was once again tied. Hanzala Ali scored in the fifth shootout to give Pakistan the lead, and the decisive penalty kick was saved by Pakistan goalkeeper Ghulam Mustafa, sending Pakistan into the final.
Pakistan will face Japan in the final on Sunday.
