Aiden Markram & Hayley Matthews Win ICC Player of the Month Awards for June 2025
DUBAI — South Africa’s Aiden Markram and West Indies captain Hayley Matthews have been crowned ICC Players of the Month for June 2025, following their outstanding performances in international cricket.
Markram clinched the Men’s Player of the Month title after a match-winning performance in the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia at Lord’s. The 30-year-old scored a vital 136 off 207 balls, guiding South Africa to a five-wicket win — their first ICC title since the 1998 Champions Trophy. He also contributed with a wicket in each innings.
“It is a privilege to receive this award,” said Markram. “Winning the final at Lord’s is a historic moment for South African cricket. It’s something we will all remember forever.”
On the women’s side, Hayley Matthews earned her fourth ICC Player of the Month award, joining elite company with Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner. Matthews outperformed Tazmin Brits and Afy Fletcher after leading her side with 104 runs and four wickets in the ODI series against South Africa, followed by 147 runs and two wickets in a 2-1 T20I series victory.
“It’s an honour to receive the Player of the Month award again,” said Matthews. “More importantly, it’s been great to contribute to the team’s success in what was a hard-fought series.”
The awards reflect both players’ exceptional form and leadership as they continue to shine on the global stage.
