Two More Intra-Court Appeals Filed Against SC Verdict in IHC Judges Transfer Case
Two additional intra-court appeals were submitted to the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday, contesting its recent decision in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges transfer case.
The appeals were filed by the Karachi Bar Association and PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen, who argued that the Supreme Court misinterpreted the Constitution in its verdict.
The petitioners maintained that the Constitution contains no provision for the permanent transfer of judges, and only the Judicial Commission of Pakistan holds the authority to appoint judges to vacant positions.
They further objected to the Supreme Court’s observation that a vacant judicial seat could be filled via transfer, labeling it unconstitutional.
The appellants also asserted that the determination of judges’ seniority does not fall under the jurisdiction of the President, opposing the court’s stance on the matter.
They urged the court to declare the June 19, 2025 verdict null and void, stating that it violated constitutional boundaries.
