Lahore High Court Suspends FIR Order Against Suleman Shehbaz in Bounce Cheque Case
Lahore – July 16, 2025: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday suspended the order of a Justice of Peace regarding the registration of a criminal case against Suleman Shehbaz, son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in connection with a bounced cheque allegation.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum presided over the hearing of the petition filed by Suleman Shehbaz. The court issued notices to all relevant parties and directed them to submit their responses by July 31.
Representing the Punjab government, Assistant Advocate General Waqas Umar appeared in court, while Suleman Shehbaz was represented by his legal counsel, who argued that the original petition seeking an FIR was filed without providing a proper address and was based on malicious intent.
The petitioner, Syed Qateel Anwarul Hassan, was accused of attempting to misuse legal provisions to target Suleman Shehbaz.
The counsel urged the court to nullify the previous directive, arguing that the application was procedurally flawed and politically motivated. In response, the Chief Justice temporarily stayed the FIR registration and adjourned the matter for further proceedings.
