Libyan Commander-in-Chief Visits Pakistan to Boost Naval Cooperation

Islamabad, Pakistan – Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, paid an official visit to Pakistan’s Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he held high-level talks with Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

The meeting underscored both nations’ commitment to strengthening bilateral defence relations, particularly in the areas of naval collaboration, regional maritime security, and enhanced training opportunities for naval personnel.

Upon arrival, Lt. Gen. Haftar was warmly received by Admiral Ashraf. During the official engagement, both dignitaries held in-depth discussions on matters of mutual interest, including the evolving regional maritime security dynamics and strategic prospects for future naval cooperation.

According to a press release from the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), Admiral Naveed Ashraf briefed the visiting delegation on Pakistan Navy’s maritime peacekeeping efforts, notably through Regional Maritime Security Patrols. Lt. Gen. Haftar commended the Pakistan Navy’s professionalism and its contributions to promoting collective maritime security in the region.

The two sides reaffirmed their shared resolve to deepen defence collaboration and broaden existing naval cooperation frameworks. The visit also highlighted the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and Libya, which are deeply rooted in mutual respect and strategic understanding.

Lt. Gen. Haftar’s visit is anticipated to further strengthen naval diplomacy between the two countries and pave the way for greater joint initiatives in the maritime domain.
