
Pakistan and Libya Agree to Enhance Defence Industrial Cooperation
Rawalpindi, July 18, 2025: Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the high-level meeting focused on a wide range of issues including regional security dynamics, mutual defence interests, and opportunities for strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The discussion underscored the importance of evolving security challenges in the region and the need for strengthened bilateral defence relations. Notably, both leaders agreed to advance defence industrial collaboration and foster the exchange of technical expertise in order to address emerging global security threats and modernize military capabilities.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, Lt. Gen. Haftar paid tribute to Pakistan’s fallen heroes by laying a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada. He was received with full military honours and was presented with a guard of honour by a well-turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
The visit signifies the growing defence ties between Pakistan and Libya and sets a roadmap for enhanced military cooperation and technological exchange in the defence production sector.
