PESHAWAR/QUETTA – July 21, 2025:
Security forces killed 13 terrorists in two coordinated intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Malakand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kalat, Balochistan, the military’s public relations wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed on Sunday.

Nine terrorists were neutralized and eight others captured in a multi-agency four-day operation in Malakand. Simultaneously, four more militants were eliminated in Kalat in an operation targeting individuals linked to the “Indian proxy group Fitna al-Hindustan.”

Malakand Operation: Terror Cells Dismantled
The operation in Malakand involved close coordination between the Pakistan Army, Levies, Police, CTD, and local administration. The troops surrounded a suspected hideout and engaged militants in multiple intense fire exchanges. According to ISPR, nine terrorists were killed, eight arrested, and two key hideouts destroyed. A cache of weapons, explosives, and ammunition was also recovered.

The statement noted that local communities welcomed the operation and pledged full support for national counterterrorism efforts. A sanitisation operation remains ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats.

Kalat Operation: Militants Linked to ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’ Eliminated
In Kalat, four terrorists linked to Indian-sponsored networks were killed following a swift IBO by security forces. ISPR reported that all four militants were engaged and killed after a fierce firefight. Recovered materials confirmed their involvement in various terror activities across Balochistan.

Leaders Laud Joint Operations
President Asif Ali Zardari praised the successful Malakand operation, hailing the security forces and Levies for their resolve against “Khwarij terrorists.” He reiterated that “terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan” would be brought to justice.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the multi-agency coordination, calling it a “great example of national unity and commitment to eliminating terrorism.” He emphasized the government’s firm resolve to fully eradicate militant networks across Pakistan.

Drone Strike Kills Woman in Upper South Waziristan
In a separate development, a suspected drone strike in the Malikshahi area of Shaktoi tehsil, Upper South Waziristan, killed a woman and injured two others. Locals reported the strike came from a quadcopter drone, which caused panic in the village.

Authorities confirmed the casualties but have yet to determine the origin or intent of the strike. DPO Arshad Khan stated the police have “no idea” about who was behind the attack. The incident has drawn public outrage, with demands for immediate investigation and justice.

Seven Police Officials Abducted in South Waziristan
Further compounding the region’s instability, seven police personnel, including a sub-inspector, were abducted in two separate incidents in Upper South Waziristan.

In Makin tehsil, three police officers went missing during routine patrol duty near Chalerai.

In Sararogha, four more officials, including a senior officer, disappeared from the Shahoor area.

Authorities are conducting a joint investigation, and a manhunt has been launched with support from security forces and intelligence agencies.

The incidents have fueled anxiety in the region, with locals demanding transparency and swift government action to rescue the kidnapped officials.

Growing Tensions in Tribal Belt
The law and order situation in Pakistan’s tribal districts — particularly South and North Waziristan — has significantly worsened over the past year. The region has seen an alarming increase in militant attacks, including:

Bombings

Kidnappings

Targeted killings

Attacks on law enforcement and civilians

Residents are urging the government to restore peace through decisive action and to strengthen civilian and military coordination.
