Social Media Used to Recruit Youth into Organizations, Says Talal Chaudhry

Islamabad: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that terrorist organizations are recruiting youth through social media.

While holding a press conference, he said that freedom of expression is not being silenced but rather a wall is being built against terrorism. Pakistan is a strong front against terrorism globally. Pakistan has detected hundreds of social media accounts linked to terrorism.

He also said that the United Nations banned ISKP and TTP, the US and Britain declared BLA as a terrorist organization, and that TTP, ISKP, BLA and BLF are using social media to spread propaganda and recruit youth.
Talal Chaudhry said that 2,417 complaints related to terrorism are under consideration on social media, and social media companies must immediately remove terrorist content through AI.
On this occasion, Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik said that terrorist propaganda is a punishable offense under PICA. Pakistan has appealed for global cooperation against digital terrorism. The government has demanded data sharing and cooperation from social media companies.
He said that Pakistan has invited foreign social media companies to open offices in the country. Pakistan has demanded closure of terrorist accounts, automatic blocking and access to data from social media platforms.
