Prime Minister Approves Modern Digital Ecosystem for FBR
Islamabad – July 26, 2025:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given the official go-ahead for establishing a modern, globally competitive digital ecosystem within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as part of broader tax reform efforts
During a high‑level meeting reviewing FBR’s progress, the Prime Minister instructed officials to bring in internationally renowned experts to design and implement a fully integrated system covering the entire economic value chain—from raw material imports, production, and manufacturing to final consumer sales. The objective is to enable real-time, end‑to‑end digital monitoring of all transactions
He emphasized that expanding the tax base and eradicating the informal economy are essential for reducing the tax burden on ordinary citizens—achievable only through technological intervention and data integration.
