French FM: Two-State Solution Is the Only Path to Peace Between Israel and Palestinians
United Nations – July 27, 2025: French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot stated on Monday that there is “no alternative” to the two-state solution as the only viable framework for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Opening a high-level conference on the stalled Middle East peace process at the United Nations, Barrot emphasized that only a political solution based on the coexistence of two independent states can meet the legitimate aspirations of both peoples.
“Only a political, two-state solution will help respond to the legitimate aspirations of Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security. There is no alternative,” said Barrot during his address.
Renewed Calls for Peace
The French minister’s comments come amid escalating violence in Gaza and increasing international concern over the humanitarian crisis and the collapse of peace negotiations. France has consistently supported efforts for a negotiated settlement rooted in international law and previous UN resolutions.
Barrot’s reaffirmation of the two-state vision signals France’s ongoing diplomatic engagement in efforts to revive dialogue between Israel and the Palestinian leadership, as geopolitical tensions and civilian casualties mount across the region.
