Increase in prize money for medal winners in international competitions

Lahore: (Dunya News) The Pakistan Sports Board has increased the prize money for medal winners in international competitions.

After approval in the 34th board meeting of the Sports Board, a revised cash award policy was issued, the prize money for winning a gold medal in the Olympics has been increased from Rs 10 million to Rs 30 million.
In the Olympics, a silver medal will receive a prize of Rs 20 million and a bronze medal will receive a prize of Rs 10 million. Earlier, a silver medal in the Olympics was worth Rs 75 million and a bronze medal was worth Rs 5 million.

The prize money for a gold medal in the Asian Games has been increased from Rs 75 million to Rs 15 million. In the Asian Games, a silver medal will receive Rs 70 million and a bronze medal will receive Rs 5 million.
The prize money for a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games has been increased from 5 million to 7.5 million. The Commonwealth silver medalist will receive 5 million and the bronze medalist will receive 3 million. In the new sports policy, the World Championship has been divided into three parts. Winning the World Championship, held every four years, will receive a prize of 7.5 million.
The policy also divides the Asian Championship events into three different categories. Prizes have also been fixed for Commonwealth and junior level events according to the duration of the championship.

A separate prize policy has been set for snooker in the sports policy. A prize of 1.5 million will be given for winning the Snooker World Championship and 7.5 million for the Asian Championship.
