India’s “Operation Mahadev”: Plan to Use Pakistani Detainees in Fake Encounters Exposed

Jul 28, 2025

Islamabad (Monday):
Credible security sources have uncovered a disturbing Indian military operation dubbed “Operation Mahadev”, allegedly designed to stage fake encounters using Pakistani detainees held in Indian prisons. This covert operation is reportedly aimed at reviving the political image of the ruling BJP and undermining the Kashmir freedom movement in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to the sources, “Operation Mahadev” was launched in the wake of the failed “Operation Sindoor”, with the aim of presenting it as a successful counter-terrorism effort in IIOJK. By portraying Pakistani detainees as cross-border terrorists, the Indian government seeks to distract from its military failures and boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political standing domestically.

The strategy allegedly involves the elimination of Pakistani prisoners, followed by planting weapons and fabricated evidence to stage them as militant incursions. This tactic is reportedly being amplified by pre-recorded propaganda materials, including images, videos, and coerced confessions, to be released instantly after such encounters for maximum media impact.

One such tragic case occurred on April 24, when Muhammad Farooq and Muhammad Deen, civilians from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, inadvertently crossed the Line of Control and were killed in a staged encounter by Indian forces.

In his press briefings on April 29 and 30, DG ISPR revealed that 723 Pakistani nationals are unlawfully imprisoned in India, with an additional 56 individuals being illegally detained by Indian intelligence agencies. These detainees are now reportedly at high risk of being used in the ongoing Operation Mahadev campaign.

Verified intelligence further indicates that Indian authorities are forcing detainees to record false confessions, claiming links to terrorism and denouncing Pakistan, all under extreme duress.

Such actions are part of a broader psychological and media warfare campaign orchestrated by India to demonize Pakistan internationally and suppress dissent in occupied Kashmir.

India’s military has long faced international scrutiny for “fake encounter” tactics, particularly in IIOJK, where countless extrajudicial killings have been documented under the guise of counter-terrorism operations.

“Operation Mahadev,” far from being a new initiative, appears to be a continuation of this deeply troubling legacy—one that raises serious human rights concerns and calls for immediate international attention and accountability.
