
Mom Annunciation Naats Protests After Government Bans Arbaeen Pilgrimage Routes
ISLAMABAD: Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) has announced a nationwide protest against the restriction on land routes for pilgrims on Arbaeen.
MWM chief Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, while addressing a press conference, said that we will never accept an illegal, unconstitutional and immoral move. Restricting religious freedom is a violation of Article 20 of the Constitution.
He further said that the Ministry of Religious Affairs should apologize for the statement about the disappearance of pilgrims. Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that there will be sit-ins and peaceful protests across the country from Gilgit-Baltistan to Karachi, no stakeholder was consulted to stop the pilgrims, the pilgrims have invested Rs 50 billion in tickets, hotels and visas.
He further said that our religious freedom has been violated, the rights of all Pakistanis are clear in the constitution, and it is the government’s responsibility to protect the rights of the people.
The head of MWM said that the Interior Minister went to Iran and discussed measures to serve pilgrims with the ministers of Iran and Iraq.
