Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr. hints at forming a new political party, contesting elections from Larkana

Jul 29, 2025
  • Larkana:Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Jr., grandson of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, strongly criticized worsening law-and-order conditions in Sindh—especially rising crime, kidnappings, and unsafe educational institutions—during his visit to Larkana following a drowning incident in Rice Canal
  • He hinted at forming a new political party, with formal announcement expected after consultations with grassroots groups. He confirmed plans to run in the next general election from Larkana, the constituency once held by his father Mir Murtaza Bhutto and grandmother Nusrat Bhutto
  • Earlier in July 2025, Bhutto Jr. had addressed the Lahore Press Club, stressing the urgent needs of Pakistan’s people—electricity, gas, and water—and aligning his planned party with the philosophy of Bhuttoism, prioritizing farmers, labourers, and public welfare. He sharply criticized mainstream parties, especially the PPP, accusing them of failing to uphold the legacy of serving the public, and described many parties as inimical to labor and peasantry
  • Speaking recently in Larkana, he demanded immediate government action to tackle poor medical services, misuse of development funds, and corruption in Sindh
