Ghizer: Destruction due to flash floods, 35 places declared disaster-hit

Ghizer: After the rain last night, a flash flood caused havoc in Ghizer, 22 houses, 18 shops were completely destroyed, 42 houses were partially damaged.

Hundreds of acres of standing crops, gardens and forests were affected due to the flash flood. At Gopis Khatam, the flash flood diverted the Ghizer River, the Gilgit-Chitral Road was completely destroyed due to river erosion, and the land connection of the upper Phander area was cut off.
Flood disasters in the upper reaches of the sugarcane field in Sinu Baraldo, the flood water did not recede even for the second day, continuous erosion, fear of permanent damage to agricultural land, the ready wheat crop was affected, a notification was issued declaring the flood-affected areas as disaster-prone.
The districts declared disaster-hit include several areas of Gilgit, Nagar, Ghizer, Diamer, Skardu, Ganchhe and Kharmang. According to the notification, 35 places in different districts of Gilgit-Baltistan have been declared disaster-hit.
