
Hurricane Flores hits Britain and Ireland, trains and flights canceled
London, Dublin: (Dunya News) Hurricane “Flores” has hit Britain and Ireland, a storm alert has been issued across Scotland, all flights from Glasgow to the Scottish Islands have been cancelled.
According to foreign media, all train departures north of Newcastle have also been cancelled, with winds gusting to 144 kilometres per hour in the coastal area of Scotland.
According to the British Meteorological Department, yellow and amber weather warnings have been issued in Northern Ireland, Scotland and other areas due to the storm, with winds of 101 km/h recorded in Lockhead, 94 in Eglinton and Magherafelt, 90 in Ballypatrick, and 85 km/h in Castlederg.
The intensity of the storm caused power outages to more than 100 homes in the Articulo area, while thousands of customers in the western and northwestern regions of Ireland also lost power.
On the other hand, torrential rains and landslides caused devastation in the southern regions of Taiwan. Four people were killed, 77 were injured, and three people were missing in various incidents. 5,900 people were evacuated from the affected areas to safer places.
Southern Taiwan has received more than 2,000 millimeters of rain in a week, more than the average rainfall for a year. Mountainous areas are facing severe problems due to the destruction of communication roads, while many settlements in urban areas have also become ponds.
