
Government of Pakistan: First ferry service license granted
A historic development has been achieved through the efforts of Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry as the Ministry of Maritime Affairs has given in-principle approval for the ferry service license.
Seakeepers has been granted a ferry license for Iran and Gulf countries. The UK-based company ‘Seakeeper’ will operate ferry routes connecting Pakistan with Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The applications of ferry operators were pending since 2017-18, working expeditiously on these applications, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs approved the first ferry service license to an international ferry operator.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that today a new history has been created in maritime connectivity, the ferry service will provide cheap travel to pilgrims and workers.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that ferry service will be started from Karachi and Gwadar, sea travel will be made safe, comfortable and affordable.
The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs said that Pakistan’s maritime economy will be boosted, the ferry service will boost regional tourism and trade, efforts have been intensified to start the ferry service.
