New Delhi: (Web News) Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, the leaders of India’s founding party Congress and the leader of the opposition, were arrested, and the central leaders of the Congress were later released.

Police arrested Rahul Gandhi during the opposition’s march from Parliament House to the Election Commission against vote theft in New Delhi.
According to Indian media, Rahul Gandhi was marching towards the Election Commission along with about 300 opposition members.

On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi said that the Modi government is trying to suppress our voice by force, this fight is not political, but to save the Constitution, this fight is for the principle of ‘one person, one vote’, we want a clean and transparent voter list.

During the protest, the police also detained several leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi, Sanjay Raut, and Sagarika Ghosh. The opposition alliance protested strongly against alleged irregularities and lack of transparency in the electoral roll.

Joint Commissioner of Police Deepak Purihat confirmed the arrests, saying that the opposition was not allowed to hold a protest of this scale, only 30 MPs were allowed to go to the Election Commission and file a complaint, but more than 200 people arrived by marching.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar Mehla said that some members tried to cross the barricades, after which they were also detained.

It may be recalled that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had alleged two days ago that the Election Commission of India, in collusion with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stole votes in the general elections.
