Cardi B reveals reason for viral courtroom moment
(Web News)Cardi B is keeping it real about her viral courtroom moment after admitting she dozed off during her high-profile assault trial.
The Up rapper addressed the incident during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday, September 15, where she confessed she couldn’t fight her exhaustion.
“I’m not even going to lie, I was,” Cardi told Hudson. “I had a long night! I’m in the middle of an album rollout. I was so sleepy, I was trying to fight it but I just couldn’t.”
The Grammy winner was ultimately found not guilty on September 2 in the case involving a former security guard, but she admitted the trial left her “overwhelmed.”
“I’m in the middle of an album rollout, and I have to go to court,” she explained. “I missed my kids’ first day of school. But at least it’s positive press.”
Cardi also revealed she hadn’t realised the hearing would be broadcast on national television. “It’s like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’” she joked.
In true Cardi fashion, she turned the viral moment into a marketing opportunity. She announced a “Courtroom Edition” of her upcoming album Am I the Drama? featuring artwork inspired by the courtroom photos. The album is set to drop on September 19.
