Hamas Denies Receiving Trump’s Gaza Ceasefire Proposal as Israeli Offensive Escalates

Hamas on Saturday rejected reports that it had received US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan for Gaza, even as Israeli forces intensified their ground and air operations across Gaza City.
The denial came after Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Hamas had tentatively agreed to a framework involving the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, a phased Israeli troop withdrawal, and an end to Hamas rule in Gaza under Trump’s proposed peace plan.
“Hamas has not been presented with any plan,” a senior Hamas official told Reuters, requesting anonymity.
Trump, who is expected to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday, had earlier suggested that “a deal on Gaza” was close, but he offered no details or timeline. Israel has yet to issue an official response.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it struck 120 targets in Gaza within the past 24 hours. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported 74 deaths in a single day, raising the toll to over 65,000 Palestinians killed since October 2023, with hundreds of thousands displaced.
The United Nations World Food Programme estimates that up to 400,000 Palestinians have fled Gaza City amid the intensified offensive, though many remain trapped.
Humanitarian groups warn of catastrophe: Doctors Without Borders announced the suspension of medical services in Gaza City as clinics came under siege, while the World Health Organization confirmed that at least four health facilities have shut down this month.
International monitors warn that famine has gripped parts of Gaza, with rights experts accusing Israel of committing genocide. Israel rejects the allegations, insisting its campaign is an act of self-defense against Hamas.
