Trump Vows Breakthrough in Middle East Peace Efforts, Eyes Gaza Ceasefire Deal With Netanyahu

Sep 28, 2025

Washington – September 28, 2025:
US President Donald Trump voiced optimism on Sunday about securing a breakthrough in the Middle East, declaring, “We will get it done,” ahead of high-stakes talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

The discussions are expected to focus on a ceasefire-for-hostages agreement in Gaza, where the war between Israel and Hamas has dragged on for nearly two years.

In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote: “We have a real chance for greatness in the Middle East. All are on board for something special, first time ever. We will get it done.”

Vice President JD Vance, speaking to Fox News Sunday, confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with Israeli and Arab leaders. He outlined three core goals of the proposed plan:

  1. Securing the release of all hostages, living and dead.
  2. Eliminating the Hamas threat to Israel.
  3. Expanding humanitarian aid to Gaza.

“I feel more optimistic now than at any point in recent months,” Vance said, though he cautioned that talks remain fragile and could still collapse at the last minute.

The White House last week unveiled a 21-point peace framework, calling for hostages’ return, a halt to Israeli strikes on Qatar, and renewed dialogue between Israel and Palestinians toward peaceful coexistence.

Tensions escalated earlier this month when Israel struck Hamas targets in Doha, Qatar, further complicating diplomatic outreach. Still, Washington insists that both Israel and Hamas remain engaged in the ongoing discussions.

Trump and Netanyahu are set to meet Monday to finalize the contours of the deal.
