
Commemoration of “Kashmir Black Day” by the Embassy of Pakistan Hague
The Embassy of Pakistan, The Hague organized a seminar to commemorate “Kashmir Black Day”, today. Special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read out on the occasion.
The speakers of the seminar included H.E Syed Haider Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Netherlands, Mr. Raja Zeb Khan, Chairperson of the “Kashmir Peace Forum – The Netherlands”, Mr. Raja Farooq Haider khan – senior journalist and secretary general of the “Kashmir Peace Forum – The Netherlands” and Mrs. Shahzadi Shamsi Baig women rights activist.

In his remarks, Ambassador Syed Haider Shah highlighted the historical, legal, and diplomatic contexts of the Kashmir Black Day. He also spoke about the grave human rights situation in the IIOJK, which has continued to worsen over the past almost eight decades. Ambassador Shah mentioned efforts made by Pakistan’s leadership in highlighting the Jammu and Kashmir dispute to the world. He expressed that Pakistan remains committed to a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people. He reiterated that Pakistan would continue to provide political, moral, and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people until they realize their inherent right to self-determination. He strongly urged the international community to fulfil their promises made to the Kashmiri people, as enshrined in UN resolutions.

Other speakers highlighted Indian atrocities and plight of Kashmiri people in IIOJK, especially since 05 August 2019, as well as the historical, political, and legal dimensions of Jammu and Kashmir dispute. They declared the gross human rights violations in the IIOJK a big challenge to the conscience of the international community. Special references were made towards the continued sufferings of Kashmiri women and their unshakable resolve.
A number of participants, including representatives of community organizations, academia, university students, journalists, and politicians, attended the seminar. A pictorial exhibition was also organized at the occasion to highlight the plight of the Kashmiri people under Indian illegal occupation. The event ended with prayers for the Kashmiri people.
