GOT BACK tour: Sabrina Carpenter shares reunion with childhood idol Sir Paul McCartney

Dec 1, 2025

(Web News)Sabrina Carpenter experienced a nostalgic, full-circle moment as she reunited with her lifelong idol, Sir Paul McCartney, backstage during one of the final shows of his GOT BACK 2025 tour.

The 26-year-old singer appeared overjoyed in an image shared on McCartney’s Instagram, where she was seen beaming beside the 83-year-old Beatles icon, nearly a year after publicly confessing on national television that he had been her childhood crush.

In the photo, Carpenter leaned comfortably into McCartney as he wrapped an affectionate arm around her shoulders, showcasing a warm bond between the two stars.

McCartney, who is married to Nancy Shevell, looked relaxed in a crisp white shirt under a black vest, while Carpenter appeared radiant in a cream turtleneck paired with a light trench coat. Her blonde waves and soft, glowing makeup added to her effortlessly chic look.

Under the post, Carpenter added her own reaction, simply commenting: “best show ever ????????????.”

The backstage reunion follows Carpenter’s memorable appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last December, where she revealed how deeply McCartney influenced her childhood.

She explained that after hearing “Rocky Raccoon” for the first time, played to her by her father,  she became completely enamoured with McCartney’s songwriting. The young Sabrina even imagined marrying him, unaware of the 57-year age gap.

“I was convinced he was my future husband,” she said with a laugh, recalling how she didn’t grasp the concept of age at the time. “No, he’s young, he’s only like 10 years older than me… I didn’t understand math—I was a child.”

When she finally met McCartney in person at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year gala, Carpenter said she immediately teared up, describing the encounter as “entering an alternate universe… like Stranger Things, but a lot happier.”

Carpenter has long expressed admiration for the legendary musician and frequently references him in interviews and posts. Just last month, she wore a vintage Wings T-shirt while reacting to her six Grammy nominations for Man’s Best Friend.

She has praised McCartney for making people feel “seen and heard,” calling him one of the most inspiring figures she has ever met.

The reunion comes on the heels of a major career milestone for Carpenter, who recently completed her 14-month Short n’ Sweet Tour. The sold-out arena tour, her first on such a large scale, included 72 dates across North America and Europe.

Reflecting on the emotional tour finale in Los Angeles, she wrote on Instagram:

“This show really was everything I’ve dreamt of making since I was young… I’ll look back on this tour when I’m old and gray and wish I could step back into my go-go boots just one more time.”

With a chart-topping album, six Grammy nods, and a heartwarming moment with her lifelong idol, Carpenter is closing out the year at a career-high—one that her childhood self would no doubt have dreamed of.
