Poilievre Says Affordability Unites Conservatives as MP Defects to Liberals
OTTAWA:Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre emphasized that affordability “is what unites all Conservatives” amid the party grappling with another MP crossing the floor to join the Liberals. The move by Markham-Unionville MP Michael Ma leaves the Liberals one seat shy of a majority government.
Speaking on Rosemary Barton Live, Poilievre blamed Prime Minister Mark Carney for “hidden Liberal taxes on food” driving up grocery prices and denied that his own leadership was a factor in the defection. He accused the prime minister of trying to secure a majority through “dirty backroom deals” rather than asking Canadians to vote for it directly.
