Sydney Sweeney to be seen as Amanda Seyfried’s ‘Housemaid’ in upcoming thriller
(Web News)The first trailer of Sydney Sweeney’s upcoming film The Housemaid has just been released, giving the audience a sneak peek at one of the most highly anticipated book adaptations of the year.
The film is based on the Freida McFadden novel, which she wrote in 2022 with the same name. It has been directed by Paul Feig and is set to arrive in theaters on Dec. 19.
Sweeney will be seen as Millie Calloway, a young woman who lands a job as a live-in maid for a wealthy suburban family. What Millie doesn’t know is that they only look perfect from the outside — especially when it comes to wife and mom Nina Winchester, played in the film by Amanda Seyfried.
In the opening scene of the trailer, Nina is seen screaming in her car — before cutting to a series of shots hinting at the trouble to come. The trailer then cuts to Nina and Millie’s first cheerful meeting as she hires her as a live-in maid to do some light housework, cooking and organizing.
The Housemaid teased the trailer earlier this month with a series of cryptic videos on the Housemaid TikTok account. The first teaser, released on Sept. 12, shows a gate to what is presumably the Winchester mansion opening. We then hear Seyfried’s Nina greeting Sweeney and telling her to “please call me Nina.”
