Disgraced Winnipeg Police Officer Accused of Handing Out Drugs at Parties
WINNIPEG:A former acquaintance of disgraced Winnipeg police constable Elston Bostock has alleged that the officer had a reputation for routinely distributing drugs at social gatherings, describing the practice as an “open secret” between 2015 and 2019.
The woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to fears of reprisals, told Canadian media that Bostock was known as a “hookup” who ensured “everyone would be extremely high” at parties. She claimed he carried white powdered drugs in his pocket and would distribute them among partygoers.
“The drugs were a white powder he had in his pocket,” she alleged. “He would lick his finger, dip it in his pocket and then ‘fairy dust’ all of us.”
Bostock pleaded guilty this week to drug trafficking charges and had earlier admitted guilt in cases involving corruption and other offences. He has since been dismissed from the Winnipeg Police Service.
According to prosecutors, Bostock supplied drugs to friends and fellow officers, sometimes while on duty and operating from his police cruiser. Authorities said the drugs were not distributed for financial profit but to gain social influence.
New details of his conduct emerged in court this week, adding to a growing list of allegations of illegal, unethical and inappropriate behavior. The case has sparked wider concern about accountability within the Winnipeg Police Service, with some of Bostock’s former colleagues also facing legal proceedings.
The revelations have raised serious questions about oversight within the police force and further eroded public trust in law enforcement.
