
ICACS 2026 Kicks Off at The University of Lahore with Global Participation
Lahore: The first day of the 7th International Conference on Advancements in Computational Sciences (ICACS 2026) was held successfully at The University of Lahore, marking another milestone in the conference’s ongoing legacy of academic excellence.
The opening ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by inaugural addresses from distinguished academic and professional leaders.
Dr. Mehtab Afzal, General Chair of ICACS 2026, welcomed participants and shared that ICACS, initiated in 2018, has now reached its seventh edition. He highlighted that all previous conferences had their proceedings indexed in IEEE Xplore and DBLP, expressing confidence that ICACS 2026 would continue this tradition. He further revealed that the conference received 205 research paper submissions from 27 countries. After a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, 33 papers were accepted for presentation.
Prof. Dr. Ibrar Hussain, Chief Organizer of the conference, emphasized the strategic importance of ICACS in fostering a strong research culture within the university and beyond. He underscored the value of international collaboration, interdisciplinary research, and high-impact publications in addressing real-world challenges.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Rector of The University of Lahore, appreciated the Faculty of Information Technology for consistently organizing an internationally recognized conference. He encouraged researchers to focus on innovation-driven and socially relevant research, stressing the importance of developing local solutions with global impact.
Representing IEEE, Mr. Kashif Bashir, Chair IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), termed it a great honor to welcome participants to ICACS 2026. He briefly shared the history and achievements of IEEE and IEEE ComSoc, highlighting their significant role in advancing global technology and innovation. He also emphasized the importance of next-generation communication technologies and IEEE’s role in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
Dr. Majid Hussain, Chair of the IEEE Conferences Committee, stressed the need to maintain rigorous peer-review standards and technical excellence to ensure global visibility and research impact. He reaffirmed IEEE’s continued technical support for ICACS.
The conference will continue with technical sessions, research presentations, and scholarly discussions aimed at advancing computational sciences and fostering international research collaboration.
