Govt Keeps Petrol Price Steady, Reduces Diesel Rate by Rs2 per Litre
The government announces a reduction in diesel prices while maintaining petrol rates for the next fortnight.
The federal government has decided to keep petrol prices unchanged while reducing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs2 per litre, as per the latest notification issued for the upcoming fortnight starting May 16 (Friday).
According to the official notification, the petrol price will remain at Rs252.63 per litre. Meanwhile, the revised price for high-speed diesel has been set at Rs254.64 per litre.
Previous Price Adjustment
Earlier this month, the government had announced a reduction in the prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs2 per litre. The finance ministry had issued a notification confirming the price adjustment for petroleum products.
The current decision to maintain petrol prices and slightly reduce diesel rates aligns with the government’s strategy to provide relief to consumers amid fluctuating international oil prices.
Impact on Consumers
The price adjustment is expected to offer slight relief to transporters and businesses relying on diesel, while petrol users will continue to pay the previous rate. The finance ministry will monitor the situation and reassess prices in the next review.
