Pakistan Launches Diplomatic Offensive with Delegations to Russia West to Counter Indian Narrative

In a significant diplomatic move, Pakistan has deployed two high-level delegations to Moscow and Western capitals as part of its global outreach strategy to counter India’s regional narrative and push for peace through diplomacy.

Tariq Fatemi Heads Delegation to Moscow

A delegation led by Syed Tariq Fatemi, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, has departed for Moscow. The visit aims to engage Russian leadership on recent regional developments and to project Pakistan responsible and peaceful stance amid heightened tensions in South Asia.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan the delegation will meet with senior Russian officials strategic think tanks and media outlets highlighting Islamabad commitment to diplomacy over confrontation.

This outreach is aimed at mobilising international opinion in favour of Pakistan and reinforcing the message that peace dialogue and diplomacy must take precedence over conflict, the Foreign Office stated.


Bilawal Leads Multi-Party Delegation to the West

In parallel former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is leading a nine-member multi-party delegation to key Western capitals including New York Washington D.C. London and Brussels.

The delegation comprises several high-profile politicians and diplomats:

  • Dr Mosaddiq Malik
  • Senator Sherry Rehman
  • Hina Rabbani Khar
  • Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan
  • Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari
  • Bushra Anjum Butt
  • Jalil Abbas Jilani (Former Foreign Secretary)
  • Tehmina Janjua (Former Foreign Secretary)

The group will engage with government officials, parliamentarians, global media, think tanks and the Pakistani diaspora to garner international support for regional stability.


Indus Waters Treaty and Regional Stability

A central theme of both delegations agenda is the Indus Waters Treaty, with Pakistan urging for the restoration of its original terms and ensuring its uninterrupted implementation amid rising disputes.

Both delegations are also expected to advocate for a greater international role in maintaining peace in South Asia, particularly in light of India aggressive and irresponsible actions as described by the Foreign Office.


Strategic Objectives

The diplomatic outreach initiated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscores Pakistan’s renewed foreign policy focus on:

  • Countering Indian narratives globally
  • Projecting Pakistan peaceful intentions
  • Seeking diplomatic alliances in both East and West
  • Reinforcing international treaties and regional cooperation
