
Billie Jean King Tennis Cup: Pakistan off to a winning start
Pakistan made a winning start in the Yili Jane King Tennis Cup, defeating Tajikistan 2-1 in the first match of the group.
Pakistan won against Tajikistan in the Group A match of the Yili Jane King Tennis Asian Oceania Zone 3. In the first singles, Pakistan suffered a loss when Amna Qayyum retired in the third set against Anisa Yakhiyava.
After losing the first game of the third set, Amna could not continue the match. In the second singles, Ushna Sohail defeated Sayura Rajabeleva 3-6, 1-6 to level the match.
She then won the doubles with Mehak Khokhar. In the doubles, the Pakistani pair won 0-6, 1-6 against Anisa Yakhiyava and Samiya Takhtaeva. Pakistan will play its second group match against Turkmenistan in the event.
