President Pezeshkian condemns US-Israel aggression, reaffirms Iran’s right to retaliate
The Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stern warning against the recent US and Israeli military aggression targeting Iran’s nuclear sites. In a high-level phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he emphasized Iran’s desire for peace while firmly asserting that Tehran reserves the right to retaliate against acts of war.
According to Press TV, Pezeshkian described the airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow as a blatant violation of international norms. He warned that Iran would not tolerate continued aggression and would make the perpetrators regret their actions. His remarks pointed directly at Israel and the United States.
US Peace Claims Contradicted by Military Actions
President Pezeshkian said that initial indirect nuclear negotiations with the US began under the impression of peaceful intentions. He stated that Washington had claimed to seek only transparency over Iran’s nuclear program. However, he argued that recent events reveal America’s full alignment with Israel, aiming to portray Iran as the obstacle to diplomacy.
“The Israeli regime attacked Iran on June 13 with full US support, resulting in hundreds of deaths, including civilians, military commanders, and nuclear scientists,” Pezeshkian said. “This aggression cannot be ignored.”
Iran Reaffirms Peaceful Intentions
He accentuated that Iran has never sought war and continues to follow peaceful objectives. He said Israel’s continued provocations were destabilizing the region and placing Middle Eastern security at risk.
Castigating Washington, Pezeshkian accused the US of creating instability, promoting division among Muslim nations, and exploiting regional resources through arms sales instead of supporting development.
He also denounced Western media’s portrayal of Muslims, stating that the US and some European countries supported terrorist groups while backing the criminal actions of the Israeli regime.
Pakistan Voices Full Support for Iran
During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the attack on Iranian nuclear sites, calling it a grave violation of international treaties and IAEA safeguards. He expressed deep concern over the unlawful airstrikes and reiterated Pakistan’s full support for Iran.
“We will stand by Iran at the global level and advocate its stance in every forum,” Sharif stated. He emphasized the importance of maintaining regional peace and urged respect for sovereign rights under international law.
Dialogue with India Reflects Broader Diplomatic Outreach
In a separate conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pezeshkian described the current global environment as alarming. He criticized the normalization of open military strikes on a peaceful nuclear nation operating under IAEA supervision.
“This jungle law cannot deter Iran from pursuing its rightful path,” Pezeshkian declared. “We will protect our people and our sovereignty at all costs.”
He called accusations of Iran developing nuclear weapons a “historic falsehood” and reiterated that Tehran has consistently operated within international frameworks. He added that the real threat to the region’s stability comes from US-Israel conspiracies.
Call for a Law-Based International System
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran only wants peace but is forced to defend itself due to foreign aggression. He lamented the absence of an effective global system to enforce international law and protect nations’ rights.
He urged the international community to reject the imposition of will through force and to oppose the destabilizing policies of the US and Israel. “Neither country has the legal right to enforce their agenda on others,” he said.
In response, Modi called for peaceful dialogue and diplomatic solutions. He stressed the importance of regional stability and pledged India’s continued commitment to deepening its historic ties with the Iranian people.
This series of diplomatic engagements comes as tensions rise across the Middle East, with Iran signaling a firm stance against further aggression while maintaining its commitment to peace and legal norms.
