Pakistan Sports Board: Annual grants distributed to federations

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has taken a major step towards the promotion of national sports by distributing cash prizes worth Rs 8.2 million to players and special and annual grants worth Rs 63.9 million to federations.

A grand ceremony organized by the Pakistan Sports Board on Wednesday paid tribute to those national heroes who have made Pakistan proud by showing outstanding performance in international competitions.

A total of Rs. 8.2 million in cash awards were distributed among 36 athletes who have made the country famous in different countries of the world. Prominent athletes include Arshad Nadeem, who won the gold medal in javelin throwing, who was given Rs. 2 million, while his coach Salman Iqbal Butt was given Rs. 6 million.
Ahsan Ramzan was given a cash award of Rs 500,000 for winning the bronze medal in the Under-21 Snooker Championship, Muhammad Asif was given a cash award of Rs 500,000 for winning the gold medal in the SAARC Snooker, and Muhammad Naseem Akhtar was given a cash award of Rs 100,000 for winning the bronze medal. Apart from this, cash awards were also given to other players.
During the cheque distribution ceremony, the chief guest gave a special grant of Rs 10 million to the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, an annual grant of Rs 2.1 million to the Alpine Club of Pakistan, an annual grant of Rs 1.1 million to the Pakistan Badminton Federation, and an annual grant of Rs 2.5 million to the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation.
The Pakistan Sports Board provided an annual grant of Rs 3 million to the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation, Rs 2 million to the National Rifle Association, a special grant of Rs 5 million, an annual grant of Rs 1.1 million to the Pakistan Rugby Union, and an annual grant of Rs 2 million to the Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan.
