Malala Yousafzai Announces Release of Most Personal Memoir Finding My Way, Out This October
LONDON – Nobel Peace Prize laureate and global education advocate Malala Yousafzai is set to publish her most personal book yet. Titled Finding My Way, the memoir will be released on October 21, offering readers a deeply intimate glimpse into her life beyond the global headlines.
Announcing the memoir on Instagram, Malala shared the book’s cover and wrote:
“At 15 years old, the world knew my name, but no one really knew me… Finding My Way is the most personal thing I’ve ever written — a messy, honest, and sometimes painfully funny memoir.”
The upcoming book marks a powerful reintroduction of Malala — not as a symbol of resistance and survival, but as a young woman grappling with identity, relationships, mental health, and self-discovery.
A Story of Growing Up in the Spotlight
According to her publisher, Finding My Way tells the story of how Malala, now 26, navigated early adulthood in the public eye. From making new friends and experiencing first love to confronting anxiety and the pressure of being seen as a global icon, the memoir explores the emotional complexities of growing up with the world watching.
Written with “humour, fierce vulnerability and piercing candour,” the book captures her journey through university life, personal struggles, and moments of joy and confusion — all while managing the expectations of a global audience.

A Shift from Symbol to Self
In an exclusive preview, Stylist UK described the book as a shift from Malala as a symbol to Malala as a person — one who has wrestled with her public identity while quietly working through private questions of belonging, love, and healing.
The memoir also includes reflections on her relationship with her husband Asser Malik, whom she married in 2021, and their co-founding of the Recess Fund, which promotes equity for women in sports.
From I Am Malala to Finding My Way
This is Malala’s first adult memoir since her global bestseller I Am Malala (2013), which chronicled her journey as a schoolgirl survivor of a Taliban assassination attempt and her rise as an education activist. Since then, she has published Malala’s Magic Pencil and We Are Displaced, and graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
Through the Malala Fund, she continues to advocate for girls’ education worldwide, while also curating a book club on the platform Literati to amplify underrepresented voices in literature.
Preorders Open
Finding My Way will be published globally on October 21, 2025, and is now available for preorder through major booksellers.
For those who think they already know Malala Yousafzai, this memoir offers a rare chance to meet the woman behind the icon — honest, vulnerable, and entirely her own.
