Asia Cup: India’s still unresolved

Lahore; The issue of India’s participation in the Asia Cup has not yet been resolved. The inclusion of both teams in one group in the Women’s World Cup has raised the hopes of the ACC. The event is likely to be held from September 12 to 28, possibly hosted by the UAE. According to the details, the Asia Cup is to be held this year.
However, tensions between Pakistan and India have cast a shadow over the event. In the 2023 Asian event, Pakistan hosted Indian matches in Sri Lanka under a hybrid model. Now, the two countries have reached an agreement not to play on each other’s soil and to play matches at a third venue, which will be implemented from this year’s Champions Trophy. This year, the Asian event hosted by India may be held in the UAE from September 12 to 28.

However, India has not yet confirmed its participation to the Asian Cricket Council. Sony Pictures Network India last year acquired the media rights to all ACC tournaments from 2024 to 2031 for $170 million, including all editions of the Men’s and Women’s Asia Cups, both the Under-19 Asia Cup and the Emerging Tournaments.
