The federal government has approved a 50% increase in fixed charges for domestic gas consumers, effective from July 1, 2025. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued an official notification confirming the revised rates, according to 24NewsHDTV.

Under the new pricing structure, fixed charges for protected domestic gas users will rise from Rs 400 to Rs 600. For non-protected consumers, the increases are more substantial. Consumers using up to 1.5 HM (hundred cubic meters) will now pay Rs 1,500 per month, up from Rs 1,000. Those consuming more than 1.5 HM will see their fixed charges surge from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

Despite the increase in fixed monthly charges, OGRA clarified that per-unit gas prices for domestic users remain unchanged. The new fixed tariffs will be implemented from the start of the next fiscal year.
